On the first day of NaNoWriMo my true love gave to me

If it’s the first day of November, it’s the first day of NaNoWriMo and writers around the world are swinging between exhilaration and sheer panic. I’m not so much swinging as spinning between the two like an out of control Tilt-A-Whirl, complete with dizziness and rising nausea. Good times, good times.

Yep, I’m committed to NaNo this year, but going the rebel route. See, I have this extremely tardy book to write finish, with a finish it or die due date staring me in the face, so that is my plan. Non-fiction, 25,000 words instead of 50,000, all in one month. Light a candle, burn some sage, say a prayer…I don’t care, I just want to get this sucker done and off into the world.

And because chaos is the name of the game, of course the first day of this sprinting marathon is my longest teaching day. I leave shortly after 10 and won’t get home until after 6:30. I can sneak in some writing between lessons, but it’s still a loooong day and by the time I get home I’m toast. Not even good buttery toast. Burnt toast that a good scraping can’t even save, just straight to the bin burnt toast.

If you’re out there and doing NaNo as well, I’m JenLaughs on the site. It’s not too late to join the craziness.

Deep breath.

Let’s do this.

You can do this, Jen! And I’m right there with you! In addition to NaNo, I’m going to NYC next Thursday to sing in Carnegie Hall with the NM Peace Choir and 160 more singers from all around Europe and the US. Also, I’m homeschooling my only (HG DS12), and will be traveling 12 of the 30 days this month. WHY do I do this?! I’m aiming for 50K in NaNo. Fingers crossed we both make our goals!

Whaddya think?
